Challenging Stereotypes

Invest in the best

Challenging Stereotypes and Widening Horizons aims to challenge occupational gender stereotyping.

A range of successful career women - including those from occupational areas traditionally seen as male spheres of influence - are invited into three girls' high schools to talk to the students about their careers, qualifications, skills and future prospects.

This event offers girls aged 12-14 years the chance to meet positive female role models and to find out about the wide variety of career opportunities available to them when they leave school. We are planning to develop a similar model for boys.

Benefits:

  • Improving students' aspirations, motivations and ambitions
  • Providing students with information about non-traditional roles
  • Strengthening links between organisations and the local community
  • Promoting the personal development of employees
  • Influencing careers teachers and informing them of job prospects
  • Increasing understanding of initiatives taking place in schools
  • Fulfilling Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies
